The question came softly, and stayed. What would Manchester look like without its people — without the rush and noise of living? The Modernist Society project, first pondered in 2015, grew slowly, shaped by rare and fleeting moments, by streets that fell briefly, beautifully quiet. Then came the city's history, its modernist bones - buildings that carried the weight of transformation, of a world becoming something new. There, at last, was the thread.
