Join The Club
Are you interested in joining South Manchester Camera Club?
Do you enjoy photography? Would you like to meet like-minded enthusiasts and get better at it in the process?
We are a friendly and supportive club catering for all levels of photographers and meet in Burnage, South Manchester.
We meet weekly throughout the year and have a variety of activities including interesting and informative external speakers, monthly competitions with fellow members and practical evenings out and about with our cameras in the local area, as well as further afield.
We arrange club trips for our members in the UK as well as abroad, which take place throughout the year. In the past we have visited the Northeast, Wales, the Lake District as well as Venice, Istanbul, Morocco and France to name a few.
We have a number of exhibitions during the year where member images are showcased and we also enter national and international competitions as a club.
We cater for all levels
Perhaps you would just like to socialise and improve your photography by joining members on the club trips out where practical techniques are learnt with the help and guidance from other members.
- Are you a beginner and just want to learn enough to improve?
- Do you have some experience and want to start entering internal and external club competitions?
- Are you experienced enough to want to put some letters after your name by gaining photographic accreditations?
- Are you a semi-pro or a professional earning your living through photography and want to share your experiences with others?
Whichever level you are at, South Manchester Camera Club can help you enjoy your hobby whilst helping you to realise your full potential.
INTEREST GROUPS
At the beginning of 2023, the Club introduced a mentoring scheme for Club members by setting up small interest groups. These groups are each led by a couple of experienced leaders and cover Landscape, People, Urban/Street, Macro Photography, Astro Photography and a Basic Skills group. Each group arranges its own practical outings and review sessions, where images are shared within the groups and constructive and supportive critique is given to help members improve their photography. Members can join as many groups as they want and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
Come along to a few meetings to get to know us
We are a friendly and accessible club open to those new to photography who want to learn more, as well as to older more experienced hands. Come along and meet up with other photographers to discuss the latest techniques, improve your skills or get feedback on your photos.
We take great pride in helping our members improve their photography through practical hands-on sessions and are currently developing our Mentoring Program, which is open to all members.
Try us out for a few meetings to see what you think, ask any questions, and hopefully join us!
If you decide to come along to see what we're about, do let us know beforehand so we can arrange for someone to welcome you and introduce you to some of the members. We're a friendly club.
