Hulme and the "Madchester" scene in the 80's and 90's

Richard will be talking to us about his love of Photography, which has played a major role in his life over a 40 year span.

From initially creating Black & White cinematic landscapes using film photography & the darkroom he moved to the more recent digital era with all of the options available via a laptop.

The first half of the evening will look at when he moved to Manchester in 1988 and set up a darkroom and studio in his flat located within the Hulme Crescents housing estate. He was perfectly placed to document the "Madchester" phenomenon which swept through the city during the late 80's early 90's, as well as the then fast rising comedy scene including the likes of Caroline Aherne, Steve Coogan and John Thomson.

The second half of the evening will deal with his more recent approach to Photography, mostly involving digital technology and the wider use of colour.

It promises to be a really interesting and illuminating talk and we are delighted to have him with us.
