SMCC Exhibition at Central Library - Oct to Dec 2025

Welcome to South Manchester Camera Club and thank you for visiting us.

I'm delighted to let you know that we are currently exhibiting a wide selection of our members' images at Manchester Central Library in St Peters Square, Manchester, between October and December of this year and we extend a warm welcome to you to come along and view them.

The photographs have been captured across a wide section of our members representing their individual skills, techniques and styles and covering a number of genres including landscapes, portraits, urban, wildlife, nature and macro photography. Here are some images of the exhibition with some of the team that set it all up.

During the exhibition period the images will be changed three times to enable a larger number of members images to be displayed, so do pop back again to see some different ones if you have already taken a look. The exhibition can be found on the first floor of the main library, to the right as you go up the main stairs. It's free of course, so do pop in to take a look.

We are an active, friendly and progressive photography club offering a wide range of speakers, outings and events and have been going strong since 1952 when it was set up by Fred Veal FRPS, FRSA, the Club’s first President, and some close friends.

The aim of the Club was to encourage “good friendship through photography” and this is now the Club’s motto. The club has a mentoring scheme for Club members by setting up small interest groups. These groups are each led by a couple of experienced leaders and cover Landscape, People, Urban/Street, Macro Photography, Astro Photography and a Basic Skills group.

Each group arranges its own practical outings and review sessions, where images are shared within the groups and constructive and supportive critique is given to help members improve their photography. Members can join as many groups as they want and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

If you interested in photography, are a beginner and want to learn more so you can improve, want to start your hobby up again or just want to share your love of it with other likeminded enthusiasts, then come along to one of our meetings to see what we do and find out more.

For more general information about the Club and information about joining, please take a look here at our About the Club page and here at our Join the Club page or feel free to contact us at membership@smcc.org.uk.

I hope you enjoy the exhibition and please do contact us to let us know what you thought of by emailing us at info@smcc.org.uk. We would love to hear from you.
